Springing into May

I constantly think about posting on my blog but you would never guess if you saw the few posts. I leave such a huge gap that it’s impossible to focus on all things I’ve been trying so I’m going to, hopefully, summarize it.

IMG_7836RUNNING: I ran my half-marathon! I successfully finished and did not have to have the “sag wagon” pick my up. I accomplished all of my goals.

WATCHING: I’ve been bouncing around lately on shows. I sped through “Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt” and I’m almost done with “Awkward”. The problem with watching “Awkward” is that I feel like I’m back in high school. The drama with Matty and Jenna just bring up all these feelings that shouldn’t exist anymore. So I need to find something less high school-y.

COOKING: I recently joined Weight Watchers (well because if Oprah does it, I can do it) because I was training for a half-marathon and somehow I wasn’t healthier. I was eating way too much and it wasn’t all fruit and veggies. Last night I made chicken fajitas with a homemade salsa and it was AMAZING. Pretty quick too minus the wait for an hour to marinate the chicken but it took me that long to make the salsa simply because it takes me forever to cut the veggies. I didn’t take any pictures this time.

MAKE-UP: I’ve been changing up my make-up rountine, more on that later!

Flinging myself into Spring

Wow! Time sure does fly by when it’s been 2 months since my last post. So here is my summary of everything I’ve been doing and haven’t been doing and what I plan on doing:

Holiday: Happy Easter! I gave up online shopping for Lent and it was very successful. I only splurged to buy tickets for the 1975 but that is only because going to a box office to purchase concert tickets isn’t really realistic. It was tough at times but I feel it helped my bad habit. I splurged to purchase a romper from Old Navy but it I kept it in my budget and didn’t go all out to save for shipping. I have to remind myself BABY STEPS are key. I plan on writing something more formal about my endeavor.

TRAINING: I am TWO weeks away from my half marathon in April. I repeat TWO weeks away. It’s a very weird feeling because I feel unprepared but at the same time I know that I can finish the race. It just won’t be easy but luckily I have Zayn and Rihanna’s new albums to keep me going.

READING/WATCHING: I am currently not reading anything which is horrible. I’ve been starting and stopping novel, unable to really get hooked on anything. I’ve been watching Law and Order as well. My ultimate goal is to cut down on TV and write more. I’ve been thinking about enforcing a curfew time for myself. No more screens after a certain period at night. We shall see.

COOKING: I made this delicious dish from a recipe that I found on Pinterest. It can be found here. The only changes I would make for the next time is to add more spinach. The dish made great leftovers too. I enjoyed it for lunch the next day and the day after.

Taking a deep breath in February

I started this blog originally to start writing or at least publish in some form. As you can see my last post is from July and well, quite frankly, ALOT has happened since then. So, as I progress through the winter season in North Carolina (we’ve already had our snow/ice day) here are some of my “currents”

READING “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert

This book has really inspired me in ways I didn’t realize I needed it. As you can see from my lack of blog posts and mission statement. A swift kick in my laziness is something that I needed.

TRAINING Half-Marathon in April

The miles don’t count unless I repeatedly tell people that I am training for a half-marathon. JK but really last week I seriously struggled on the treadmill. I had to slow down and start and stop constantly but after a week if watching what I ate and drank, I ran a full 3.5 miles without slowing down and my strength work out afterwards. Sometimes you just have to break through the wall to at least get to a starting point.

WATCHING “Happy Endings” on Hulu and “The Blacklist” on Netflix

I’m TWO EPISODES away from finishing season two of “The Blacklist” on Netflix so I’ve decided to slow it down by throwing in some “Happy Endings” episodes so that finishing of a show depression doesn’t quite set in. Plus “Happy Endings” is hilarious and really has helped with the sting of winter.

First blog post

I’ve thought about my first post on this blog for a couple of weeks now. I wanted to capture my feelings, my intentions, and of course, my thoughts. I needed an outlet for all the creative energy that I’ve held inside for the past couple of years. Lately, I’ve been trying put everything in perspective. Change the things I can change. I’m ready to explore a career much different than the I currently am in. I intend for this blog to feature my photos for the past couple of years and snippets of things I’m writing and maybe some hasty sketches. So it begins. My journey into the creative light that guides me. Everything from photos to words. It is something of a self discovery path. A path on a more well-travelled road.
